So my clanmates and I were having a discussion, and I'm curious as to the opinion of people on here...for each of the different types of maps (reg cp i.e. well/granary, sequential cp i.e. Dustbowl, split cp i.e. Gravelpit, CTF, and payload), which class (in general) do you guys think is most dominant? Like most likely to win a team the game...
Dustbowl - Demoman easily Gravel Pit - A good utility class can really make a difference (ie: Heavy, sniper, spy) Granary - Good scout play/Demoman Well - Teamwork, usually not one class proves dominant. Badlands - Scout/Demo
Soldiers and Medics are always expected to play well and can EASILY change a game, but I decided to not add them for the sake of it being obvious.
okay onestep, but would you say that, for example, a soldier is more capable of locking down dustbowl than a demo, or is more capable of owning on granary than a good scout?
tf2 is a team game more than any other, and you have to think of the classes according to their roles. on any map you can have a dominant player on any class that makes a difference, but without support from the other classes it just won't matter.
that said, demoman is probably the class that, with an amazing player, can really make a difference.
for every push map: maximize medics, demomen, scouts, soldiers (in that order), sniper if the map is big enough - it's preferable to replace a soldier with a sniper I think
for every defense map (on defense): maximize medics, demomen, soldiers, rest is up to you - heavies, engies, even scouts can work
for every defense map (on offense): see push map
for every CTF map: maximize medics, demomen, soldiers, then the rest is up to you

Mach4's also really good for engineer. All CTF maps usually have Engineers.
