This week was, unfortunately, somewhat anticlimactic. With 14 seeds entering the playoffs, none but the top 8 made it through and we missed out on the glory of a nice upset. It's odd, especially in an online gaming league where teams can toggle their efforts without problem and perform in the playoffs without having done much during the regular season. That being said, it appears that these 8 have their work cut out for them, and I anticipate each match being close. In a bit of a twist, Alex "soma" Kirk was able to contact each losing team to get a bit of a summary of the match from their interesting perspective. The question was asked: Would you mind telling me about the team you lost to tonight? How did the other team play? Important players? milkshake on LOSGUEROS: super|MilkShake: Well, our match went pretty bad for us. We didn't have 2 of our starters, and our team work just didn't seem to be working out. Los Gueros seemed to be on the ball. They had good nades and always seemed to be in the right places. All their rifles seemed to be really good. They never stopped moving, and were extremely hard to hit. mogers on schweiss: mattprogers: they like proning/dropping their rates/ and mg'ing even though they have a man advantage, classy. schweiss\\Todo[dr]: since mogers gave such an awful description, i'll go ahead and fill it in for him. before the match 3h had been scrimming a fair amount and came right at us with good teamwork and a lot of skill. before we knew it, they had capped two or three times and they were on axis. we were worried. we hit them back for three quick caps to even out the score, but they were still outplaying us and we were just getting to the flags at the right times. by the end of the half they capped once more and were up by about 30 i think. on our axis side, we came at them hard and hit them for two quick caps. it was about 110-10 or so, and then likwid disconnected and couldn't get back into the server for whatever reason. there was nothing we could do from our end, as dod has no pause option right now and we're not restarting the half after being up by 100, so they fell apart and we had an easy time 5v6, as we should. also, one person dropping their rates to manage their bad internet, one person proning, and one person MGing for 2 deaths before we yelled at him, is altogether just about as classy as bitching as us because you lost. phox on noluck: xm`phox: Distortion came out of nowhere with his amazing rifling, we weren't expecting it at all. First half we felt we had the match but they took advantage of our confidence and kicked us in the nuts. Jackson seemed to be the backbone of the rifle squad with equis being a nice complement. links on irawr: joeledmunds on ARMY: [mtan]joel: ARMY are a team of solid players, but truth be told they're really not that fun to play against with their pings. They definitely played a lot better than they did on dod_railroad, but I really don't feel we brought our best game at all, regardless of any connection problems. No players really seemed to stand out on either team, it was mostly just ARMY being much more coordinated than we were. If I had to choose a player who gave us problems, it would of course be Lampro.
