Call Of Duty: TLR take revenge

TLR avenged their CDC defeat to fnatic in an overtime thriller on mp_crash. GotFrag's Liam Crowley talks to Jason "Lookzor" Perez O'Connor.

As the final frag rings in and TLR finish off fnatic in overtime, Jason "Lookzor" Perez O'Connor sits back in his seat with a smile. Another objective ticked off for this incredible team who have come from CoD2 hopefuls to European powerhouses in the space of a few short months. The match itself was incredible and a level above anything else we have seen here this weekend. Momentum swung back and forth between the two sides with "SoCLoN", "tidde" and "mint" all playing the hero at various stages. The latter dragged fnatic into overtime with a great 1v1 clutch but from then on it was all about TLR.

"We went into the game with full confidence and like everyone should know by now, our very aggressive style; just peaking, not letting the names we are playing versus phaze us" explains O'Connor, "every kill just lead to more motivation". He refuses to pick out a key player for the side, instead insisting it was in every sense a team effort. "At the start of the game the key player was stat but as the match progressed every player showed signs of very good tactical play and aim, every player raised the level of their game as needed in most situations".

With the score tied six all at half time it was anybody's game and both sides knew it. TLR took an early lead on the attack but fnatic soon adapted and "tidde" pulled them back into contention. Overtime seemed an inevitablity and it soon arrived, with "mint" the savior for the Swedes.

Lookzor versus fnatic
"I was really really put down that d1ablo was able to lose a one on one situation with fifteen seconds to go versus mint, and for a while I just sat there really annoyed" admits O'Connor. "My team mates just said c'mon we can do it, they brought me back out and we played the best we could. I dont think any the other players were phazed by overtime and we we continued to play fine".

The final score of sixteen to thirteen was a testement to TLR's mental strength in overtime and sees the UK side face rivals Dignitas in the next round. After watching the latter take apart TEK9, O'Connor remains confident. "The team at the moment are on a very big high and could potentially play better than we just did last game, but we will not underestimate dignitas and with the recent addition of sko they have really improved tactically".

A win against Dignitas will see TLR through to the grand final with a map advantage to boot. O'Connor admits he wouldn't be surprised if they met fnatic again there, "with fnatic storming through EG and then EG holding their own versus the other top teams, it really shows that us and fnatic are just that notch above the others" he says.

And as for the big question, "are they now the best team in Europe?", O'Connor remains coy. "In my honest opinion we share the position with fnatic, neither are better than the other, if that doesnt sound too cocky" he smiles.
